Last night I hit the chocolate motherload, courtesy of my fabulous friends Tom and Heather. Tom's dad is a R&D scientist at Guittard Chocolate (WHAT a dream job, right?), and from time to time he provides them with boxes of high-quality chocolate. Because they know I have a giant sweet tooth, and possibly because I am shameless in my chocolate grovelling, they generously gifted me with a large quantity of delicious Guittard bars. I believe this is what the kids call being "hooked up" these days. I can't wait to play with my new chocolate stash!
Normally I would hoard all of this chocolate and snarl "my precioussss" whenever someone came near it. However, I'm feeling generous today, so I thought I'd offer a little giveaway. Want to win five gourmet chocolate bars? Simply leave a comment to this entry between now and Midnight PST on Thursday, August 28th. The stash is pictured above: there are four single-origin 65% bittersweet bars, and an uber-dark 91% bar. I'll throw in a few minis (milk and dark) too. If you want, you can mention what sorts of recipes you might like to try with the chocolate, but that's not a requirement. I'll use the random number generator to pick a winner on Friday the 29th. Good luck!

Ooooh... I've been wanting to make Dorie's Chocolate-Crunched Caramel Tart (page 355!). I bet this chocolate would be fantastic for that. =) That's quite the beautiful stash.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous- what a hookup!
ReplyDeleteI love your profile pic- did you get it from allpopart? For our anniversary, my husband gave me those of our daughters. They're so great!
Oh yes please!!!! I want that job as well! Oh no, I would just be too fat! Recipes? Can't I just eat them plain? Thnaks for your generosity!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that would be by far the closet job ever, so jealous!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like fabulous chocolate! I think it would be great in either a flourless chocolate cake or the past Daring Bakers recipe- the Milk Chocolate Caramel Tart.

Now that's a fun food science job. Have fun playing with all your new chocolate toys!
ReplyDeleteI totally need friends like those! I think I'd use the chocolate to overcome my pudding problems (think chocolate soup) and try Dorie's recipe again.
ReplyDeleteA dream job indeed. What a super sweet giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThose chocolates look amazing! I want to win one for sure!
ReplyDeleteMay Canadians enter?
ReplyDeleteAs much as I'd like to try making something with the chocolate it's just as likely that I'd end up eating it plain (one square a day would get me through quite a lot of days of classes).
@ jodie: thank you! I actually did the photo myself in Photoshop, but it was kind of agonizing because I'm not a PS guru. I didn't even know there are sites that do it for you! If only I found this out earlier...
ReplyDelete@ ikkinlala: Canadians (and any other international entrants) are more than welcome to join the fray!
@ everyone who wants to eat them plain: preach it! They're definitely great bars for savoring by themselves.
I'm so jealous that you guys have so many varieties of chocolate in the US.
ReplyDelete91%? Wholey moley...
Yummy! I love chocolate! Thanks for this giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI, of course, would not want to be known for passing up free chocolate! ;) And I have been secretly waiting to get some good stuff before I make your mucho delicioso "Orange Chocolate Goo Cake" or some such title from way back in November.... or even the "Ooey Gooey Carmel Bars"... etc. etc... :)
